Ulla Lampela performed her diploma examination in the autumn of 2004 receiving the highest marks, and completed her Master's Degree at the Sibelius Academy in 2005. She studied with Timo Hanhinen, Marko Ylönen and Hannu Kiiski. Mrs. Lampela has also studied abroad as a member of the Tempera Quartet. In 1998-1999 the quartet studied at the Royal College of Music in London, receiving a Master of Music degree in chamber music. In 1999-2000 the quartet studied also at the Edsberg Music Institute in Sweden. In January 1998 Mrs. Lampela shared the fourth prize at the Turku Cello Competition. As a member of the Tempera Quartet, she has performed extensively both in Finland and abroad. Ulla Lampela is artistic director of the Kauhava Chamber Music Festival and teaches cello at the East Helsinki Music Institute. Ulla Lampela plays a Claude Pierray (1714) owned by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
