Silva Koskela began her violin studies at the Central Ostrobothnian Conservatory under the guidance of Juha Kangas. She has studied violin and chamber music also at the Keski-Suomi Conservatory, Sibelius Academy, Utrecht Conservatory, Royal College of Music in London and the Edsberg Music Institute. At the Sibelius Academy Ms. Koskela studied also baroque violin with Kreeta-Maria Kentala. Silva Koskela has a Masters Degree from the Sibelius Academy and also MMus in Chamber Music Studies at the RCM. As a violinist of the Tempera Quartet, Ms. Koskela has performed throughout Europe, in the US, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. She is also a member of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra and the Sixth Floor Orchestra. Ms. Koskela commissioned a composition for violin and piano from Paavo Korpijaakko, of which she gave the first performance with pianist Tuomas Turriago in the fall of 2005. Silva Koskela has been lecturer of violin at the Tampere Conservatory since 2002.
